UCLA Faculty Women's Club (FWC)

The FWC annually awards scholarships, including need-based and merit-based undergraduate grants, and several merit-based awards to graduate students. FWC scholarships have grown from a single award of $25.00 in the 1920s to up to $1,000-$2,500 in 2005-2006. Contributions from members and friends are deposited in the UCLA Foundation; the interest is used for the scholarship awards.

FWC Scholarships Awarded 2004-2005

The UCLA Faculty Women's Club was proud to honor and award scholarships to nine exceptional UCLA students.

Graduate Scholarships

The George and Sári Halász Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was given in memory of Sári Halász, FWC President 1998-1999.
Her presidency was notable for establishing the first FWC Homepage. Sári
remembered the FWC Scholarship Fund in her will and specified that
a scholarship be awarded to a student majoring in the humanities.

The Virgene Bollens Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was given in memory of Virgene Bollens, an active
member of the Bird and Bicycling Sections. She held various
FWC Board positions including Treasurer.

The Robin Carnesale Scholarship

This scholarship was awarded in honor of Honorary Member, Mrs. Albert Carnesale, wife of Chancellor Carnesale,
to a graduate student in Business Administration/Public Policy at the UCLA Anderson School who is interested
in programs that promote economic and private sector development in third-world countries.

Direct descendents of full-time UCLA academic employees or members of FWC

Four merit-based scholarships were awarded this year.

Undergraduate Scholarships

Four undergraduate FWC Scholarships based on merit and need were
awarded to entering freshmen and community college transfers.

We congratulate all of the recipients of the FWC Scholarships and wish them well  in their educational pursuits at UCLA.

Many thanks to FWC members and friends who contribute so generously to help make these awards possible.
